(WOODLAWN, MD – May 2026) — After months of honoring Black excellence across Baltimore County, BMORENews.com is preparing to close out the tour in grand fashion with Black Wall Street WOODLAWN, set for Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at 6665 Security Blvd.

Presented as part of the nationally recognized Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards series, the event promises an evening of celebration, networking, inspiration, and recognition of individuals who continue to uplift their communities through leadership, service, entrepreneurship, and advocacy.

Among this event’s honorees is William Neal, president of James Mosher Baseball, whose dedication to youth athletics and mentorship has positively impacted generations of Baltimore families. Also being recognized is Captain Gerald Quarles of the Baltimore City Fire Department, a respected public servant whose commitment to protecting and serving the community has earned admiration throughout the region.
The evening will also spotlight two beloved West Baltimore figures — Gordon Wilder and Irvin Nore — longtime members of the Matthew Henson Alumni Association and pillars of community engagement. Known for their steady presence, mentorship, and advocacy, both men have spent years investing in the betterment of their neighborhoods and the lives of others.
Another honoree is entrepreneur Donovan Murphy, owner of Island Quizine, whose restaurants have become both a cultural gathering space and a symbol of Black business excellence in Baltimore County and now, Silver Spring.
The Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards were created to celebrate Black entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders who embody the spirit of economic empowerment and collective progress. The series is named in honor of the late Joe Manns, a tireless advocate for the Woodlawn community and the Greater Baltimore region.
Over the years, the Black Wall Street movement has honored thousands of changemakers across multiple cities nationwide, reinforcing the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses and institutions.
