Thanks to Beverly Smith and her organization, Momma’s Safe Haven, we have hosted about 5 Black Wall Street SOUTHEAST events in as many years. As always, we celebrate black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race.
We do this in memory of the 600 or so black-owned businesses destroyed in Tulsa on May 31-June 1, 1921.
It is a particular present to go to Southeast DC because it was home to a champion of black business, DC Mayor for Life Marion Barry. He will forever be remembered!
