Black Wall St. BALTIMORE to Recognize Chris Lundy, Maurice Good, & others!
Christopher R. Lundy, Esq., Director, Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development

(BALTIMORE – August 11, 2023) – Yes! August is known as National Black Business Month. Supporting Black business is a staple here at BMORENews.com throughout the year.

With this in mind, this Baltimore-based news website will once again feature a Black Wall Street BALTIMORE ceremony featuring the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards on Wed., August 23, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm at Terra Cafe Bmore. It is located at 101 E. 25th Street.

RSVP to Blackwallstreetbmore.eventbrite.com.

Maurice Good, Entrepreneur

Honorees include Christopher R. Lundy, Esq., the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy & Development, and Maurice Good, a Baltimore entrepreneur and owner of Crown Seven Brand. Other honorees include Senator John Pica, Minister C. D. Witherspoon, Lenora Henry (Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce), Dr. Dennis Ausar (TNAT Holistic Wellness Center), Charlyn Nater (Baltimore Main Streets), Andrea England (AE Business Consulting), and Matthew Pica.

Sponsors include Gail Moody, Dianne Bell-McKoy, Sean Stinnett, and Rondy Griffin.

As for the month of August, one name that cannot be forgotten is that of Marcus Mosiah Garvey. He was born in August. He was one of the most dynamic personalities in Afrocentric history who built not only a newspaper but also a shipping line along with the largest organization of Black people in the world (the Universal Negro Improvement Association – UNIA).

Garvey is an everpresent reminder and source of inspiration for today’s Black entrepreneur. He is proof positive that if one utilizes the gifts that the good Lord has bestowed upon us, we can do anything. With a thick Jamaican accent, he was able to organize like no other. No excuses! He just built!

National Black Business Month

August is National Black Business Month, a time to recognize and support Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs across the country. The annual celebration was created in 2004 when historian John William Templeton and engineer Fredrick E. Jordan partnered to advance the policies affecting 2.6 million African American businesses and develop greater economic freedom for Black communities. This month we reflect on the history of Black entrepreneurship, its impact on the United States economy, and the resilience of the Black community.
