(BALTIMORE – October 9, 2024) – The next  BMORENews.com event is Black Wall Street  BLK SWAN, set for Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the  Blk Swan at 1302 Fleet Street in East Harbor. As always, the event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards, where we celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race.

To date,  BMORENews.com and its partners have honored over 2,700 individuals in 9 major US cities, including New York, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Richmond, Atlanta, New Orleans, Birmingham, Las Vegas, and Tulsa.

Honorees include Atashia Brockington.

Who is Atashia?

Atashia Brockington is the owner and baker of Mrs. B’s Pies, which was established in December 2020. She has been baking sweet potato pies from Baltimore, Maryland, for over 15 years. Her pies are a family recipe passed down through 2 generations from her great-grandmother to her grandmother, Bertha Morris, an excellent southern baker and cook from White Stone, Virginia. Her grandmother shared her recipe with her to continue to spread the love of her southern baking to their family and friends. This was the start of Mrs. B’s (Bertha) Pies, which became a household name throughout Maryland.

Atashia started seriously baking during the pandemic. From there, Mrs. B’s Pies was birthed as a sweet potato pie business using social media to sell pies to family and friends. She has over 500 loyal pie customers, with some traveling two hours away from neighboring states to purchase her homemade sweet potato pies every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her ultimate dream is to own a bakery and have her sweet potato pies showcased in every restaurant, market, and, of course, Walmart. Her motto is, “All of Mrs. B’s Pies are handmade with love”.
