The Ancestors. We thank God for them. We thank God for their sacrifices and for never giving up. We respect how they endured the wrath of inhumane spirits who knew not God … those who were merely concerned about themselves.
We praise the spirits of these African American giants who persevered despite the hatred they faced and the brutal tactics used against them to strip them of their humanity.
And although everything was thrown at them – including the kitchen sink … Poet Laureate Maya Angelou may have said it best: STILL I RISE!
