Guest Editorial: Mindset Shift… by Kia Chante’

(FT. WASHINGTON – November 8, 2022) – As many of you know, I have been teaching since 2001 (with a couple of years off to try being a housewife which was not a good situation, but I’ll save that for another time). I LOVE being a teacher when all of the extra “mess” doesn’t steal our joy. I think back to going to work, while my ex-husband (business owner) had a flexible schedule. He could take our son to school, be there with 1 call if he forgot his lunch, and all of the benefits of not clocking in or needing permission to take a vacation! Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful, but those freedoms do NOT come with a 9-5 …

I used to tell him that working for yourself is NOT for everyone. I was programmed! Can you relate? Go to school, get married, have kids, a house with a white picket fence (still makes me feel warm and fuzzy) and get you a GOOD JOB with benefits to retire from.😕

I realized that if HE can do it, why can’t I? I opened my eyes and saw that there are new business owners developing every day! Sure it takes time, but doesn’t school? Sure there is a learning curve, just like anything! Sure EVERYONE is not successful, isn’t that true with anything? 💯

I hope to at least have “options” where I can work because I love it and/or volunteer as often as I like. Donate to pay off Chromebook replacement fees for the kids who need it … Things I can’t do right now …

So I decided to have an OPEN MIND and am hopeful for an awesome future. When you have an open mind, you will fall and fail, but you will LOVE the process, learn and fall forward!

🧠 Drop GROWTH MINDSET if you can relate to wanting more out of life!
