(BALTIMORE – February 12, 2023) – Breadcoin, a nonprofit organization created in DC and now serving Baltimore communities, is revolutionizing the city’s fight against poverty and inequality. Breadcoin offers people in need a dignified way to access food options through choice. We can provide a person dignity through access to the food of their choice by using community food tokens known as Breadcoins. By vendor partners accepting Breadcoins as payment, Breadcoin tokens are exchanged between individuals and food vending businesses, providing an alternative form of economic support where traditional methods may not be available or accessible.

Breadcoin was founded with the idea that everyone should have access to basic needs. While other forms of assistance can create uncomfortable feelings for recipients – Breadcoin allows people to purchase food without feeling embarrassed or judged – empowering them with dignity instead.

Additionally, Breadcoins have also been used to feed people experiencing homelessness or food insecurities, incentivize students, youth, and volunteers, encourage first responders, as well as provide much-needed commerce and opportunities for sustainable community engagement for small businesses. Breadcoin has helped form relationships between local businesses such as Zella’s Pizzeria, Giovanna’s of Parkville, Vikki’s Fells Point Deli, Butler Cooking, and others with community organizations including Level Up, Unlimited Potential, Agoge Project, and others. This creates an opportunity for people to come together in a way that puts them on an equal playing field in terms of access to resources. It also builds up communities by connecting people through gastronomy (look it up, it’s not what you think).

Breadcoin is a prime example of how relational equity can bridge gaps between communities – both rich and poor – leading to greater dignity within Baltimore’s cultural landscape. With more partnerships forming every day Breadcoin is quickly becoming part of the rich historical fabric of the city and creating opportunities not only for those in need but also for business owners looking to give back to their communities without compromising their bottom line. Breadcoin has proven that by uniting around a common cause, we can all lift each other up and make Baltimore a place where all citizens can thrive.

Breadcoin’s mission of providing access to food while upholding dignity is building momentum across the city, one Breadcoin at a time, one relationship at a time. Through Breadcoin’s innovative platform, the impactful organization is revolutionizing the traditional model of poverty relief and creating lasting change for Baltimore’s underserved communities. Breadcoin not only provides an alternative form of economic support for individuals but also creates essential opportunities for sustainable community engagement for nonprofits and local businesses – proving that there is hope in us all. With continued support from local residents’ donations, Breadcoin will continue to build bridges between communities leading to enduring prosperity for generations to come.
