The most critical problem in the other America is the economic problem.

“The most critical problem in the other America is the economic problem. By the millions, people in the other America find themselves perishing on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity… The fact is that the black man in the United States of America is facing a literal depression. When there is massive unemployment in the black community, it’s called a social problem. But when there is massive unemployment in the white community, it’s called a depression.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

(BALTIMORE – January 3, 2022) – With this emphasis on economics, BMORENews and its partners celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. Honorees receive the coveted Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards. Since 2011, BMORENews and its partners have honored more than 2,000 individuals in 9 US cities: New York, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Richmond, Atlanta, New Orleans, Birmingham, Las Vegas, & Tulsa.

Our goals are to help preserve the little-known Black Wall Street nationally and to inspire entrepreneurship beginning in the Black community. We understand that the stronger our businesses are, the better able they are to hire the people in our community.

Honorees include:

Debra Keller-Greene

Wendell Shannon

Juanita Bass

Latifah Franks

Paul Taylor

Donny Moses

Next Phaze Cafe

Kendrick Tilghman

Nathan Richardson

Laquicha Brown
