Black Wall Street HOWARD UNIVERSITY Attracts the Best & Brightest
The Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award celebrates Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. To date, BMORENews and its partners have recognized over 2,700 individuals in 9 major US cities since 2011.

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 27, 2024) – Black Wall Street HOWARD UNIVERSITY, held on October 25th at the School of Business, was another success. This year’s second one, the Washington, D.C. Small Business Development Center (DCSBDC) and BMORENews.com partnered to deliver another astounding event featuring business people from multiple disciplines, including two Howard journalism professors.

The DCSBDC’s Carl Brown has worked closely with the BMORENews Team to make these events happen. Held in conjunction with a business resource fair as a backdrop, the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards were simply complimentary to an already viable event.

Brown works diligently to ensure that students and local entrepreneurs have direct access to all available resources—from legal clinics to budget counseling to financial organizations that can help a business identify capital.

Honorees included Beverly Smith, Tycely Williams, Nana Malaya, Professor Jennifer Thomas,
Dr. Yanick Rice Lamb,
and Sean Michael Wilson. Two honorees work for the DSDCS: Yodit Shibru, Director of Government Contracts and Charles Motte, the Associate State Director. Also, Executive Virtual Assistant Stacey Palmer was recognized for her stellar work across D.C. on a national basis.

Special thanks to Marc Clarke and Rondy Griffin – two powerful allies and supporters of BMORENews’ efforts in the community.
