New MCAAHC Vice Chair, Dr. Edwin T. Johnson

(ANNAPOLIS – July 21, 2022) – We are excited to announce that Dr. Edwin T. Johnson is the new Vice Chair of the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture (MCAAHC).

Dr. Johnson, representing Baltimore City, was appointed to the MCAAHC in 2016 by Governor Larry Hogan. Commissioner Johnson is the Special Assistant to the Provost and University Historian at Morgan State University. For more than 20 years, his work has primarily served non-traditional students including at-risk males, minorities, first-generation college attendees, adult learners, veterans, and disabled students.

We look forward to his leadership!

Notice of Public Meeting! The next public meeting for the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture (MCAAHC) will be:

Date: August 1, 2022

Time: 11:00am

Location: Jenkins Hall Behavioral and Social Sciences Center,

1600 Havenwood Road, Baltimore, MD 21218

Join us to learn about the current and upcoming initiatives of the commission.

The MCAAHC is committed to discovering, documenting, preserving, collecting, and promoting Maryland’s African American heritage. The Commission also provides technical assistance to institutions and groups with similar objectives. Through the accomplishment of this mission, the MCAAHC seeks to educate Maryland citizens and visitors to our state about the significance of the African American experience in Maryland.
