(BALTIMORE – April 29, 2026) – When Bishop John L. Bryant shows up for your ribbon-cutting, you know you have arrived. But hold on — is that Imam Earl El Amin, too? It sure was, as dozens of fans and supporters — including the young men from Uncle T’s youth program — gathered Sunday afternoon for the 2:30 pm ribbon-cutting at Kevin Scott’s newly-renovated, two-story office building on West Mulberry Street in downtown Baltimore. Senator Antonio Hayes and Downtown Partnership’s Shelonda Stokes were both on hand. Kevin Scott’s Benedetto Haberdashery got the welcome it deserves.
For 25 years, Kevin has sold clothes. He could have sold anything — because the man is a master at selling. But what he’s truly mastered is finding the most fascinating colors in the world’s finest materials. The light blues, the lime greens, the yellows. It is springtime, after all.
Baltimore’s best-dressed man, bar none. A guy told me a story from nearly four decades ago — Kevin Scott hit the streets in the middle of a blizzard in the meanest white snow outfit the world has ever seen. That’s Kevin. Always curated. Always sharp, down to the smallest detail.
My favorite moment of the ceremony was when he pulled a random suit off the rack and gave the audience a masterclass. Fashion tip of the day for men: Get at least two neckties with every new suit. If he had his way, he’d sell you four or five.
But the real mastery? Finances. Percentages. The most minute detail. Kevin doesn’t just sell clothes — he pays a mortgage. Own the building. Because you never want to rent what you should own. Why build it out, make it profitable, only to let a landlord raise your rent?
Black Wall Street BENEDETTO 2.0 was Baltimore’s finest, gathered to celebrate the city’s best-dressed brother. With all due respect.
Here’s to another 25, Kev. Congratulations!
