Who is Akio?
Akio Evans is a Baltimore-based filmmaker, wearable art designer, and mixed-media artist known for blending storytelling with visual art. Starting his career documenting life through film, Akio’s work spans from his debut documentary Grace After Midnight Pain to his celebrated Shoe Muralist sneaker art, collected by stars like Dave Chappelle, Usher, and Kevin Hart. His wearable art has appeared on Bel-Air and Grown-ish, and he has led creative projects for HBO Max and brands like Adidas, Converse, and Timberland. Akio’s workshops, including How Baltimore Saved the Air Force 1, highlight his passion for history, community, and hands-on art experiences.
