(BALTIMORE – December 20, 2024) – Be sure to attend the Black Wall Street New Year EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Sankofa Children’s Museum of African Cultures at 4330 Pimlico Rd. This will be an inspiring event filled with workshops, speakers, networking opportunities, and, of course, the coveted Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards. This event is presented by BMORENews.com, the West North Avenue Development Authority (WNADA), and Fulton Bank.

Honorees receiving the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards include Akio Evans.

Who is Akio?

Akio Evans is a Baltimore-based filmmaker, wearable art designer, and mixed-media artist known for blending storytelling with visual art. Starting his career documenting life through film, Akio’s work spans from his debut documentary Grace After Midnight Pain to his celebrated Shoe Muralist sneaker art, collected by stars like Dave Chappelle, Usher, and Kevin Hart. His wearable art has appeared on Bel-Air and Grown-ish, and he has led creative projects for HBO Max and brands like Adidas, Converse, and Timberland. Akio’s workshops, including How Baltimore Saved the Air Force 1, highlight his passion for history, community, and hands-on art experiences.
