Business networking event is part of a year-long calendar of events celebrating BmoreNews’ 20th Anniversary (2002-2022)

(BALTIMORE – July 25, 2022) – August is a very special month for Black-owned business owners and their supporters.

August is #NationalBlackBusinessMonth, created in 2004 by historian John William Templeton and engineer Frederick E. Jordan Sr. to bring attention to the needs of more than two million Black-owned businesses operating across America.

At BmoreNews.com, supporting Black-owned businesses has been a hallmark of our efforts.

With this in mind, we invite all to join us on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 6 to 8 pm at Darker Than Blue Grille for “Recognizing Black Business Month: Doing Business with the City and State,” a business networking and awards event.

RSVP to http://blackbusinessmonth.eventbrite.com/.

Our speakers will include Ricky Smith, CEO of BWI-Marshall Airport, SMonique Person-Smith, COO of R.E. Harrington, Sean Stinnett of the Mayor’s Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business & Director of Baltimore Main Streets., and Joe Gaskins of the MD Business & Clergy Partnership based in Prince George’s County.

We are also pleased and grateful to also announce two special attendees. One is Meshelle Howard, Director at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). If you’re trying to do business in the DMV, you must meet this quiet giant. The other is Kisha A. Brown, Esq., Founder & CEO of Justis Connection. Kisha represents a number of Black attorneys nationally and is all about the empowerment of others.

Further, as always, this event will feature the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards where we celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. To date, BmoreNews.com and its partners have honored over 1,900 individuals in 9 US cities since we began the awards in 2011.

Honorees include community advocate Margaret Powell; Christy Turner, the Community Revitalization Coordinator (Intern) with the West North Avenue Development Authority; design artist Tracy Stevens; the Honorable Carl SnowdenEd Hill of Bmore, Inc.; a longtime Bmorenews supporter who never wants any recognition – Mr. Rondy Griffin; REHAT Apprenticeship Training Program; Sanjay Thomas; Edsel Brown of the Southern MD Minority Chamber of Commerce; and community advocate extraordinaire John Carrington.
