(BALTIMORE – August 7, 2023) – Kelly Cross is a visionary. He insists on helping make Baltimore more appealing to outsiders. This is not new for him.
Recently, Cross invited Stephon Marbury, the former professional basketball player and current head coach in the Chinese Basketball Association, to Baltimore to show off Charm City. Also invited was Steve Francis, the former professional basketball player who was selected with the second overall pick of the 1999 NBA draft and was named co-NBA Rookie of the Year in his first season. He was a three-time NBA All-Star while playing for the Houston Rockets.
The goal was to get Marbury and Francis to see beyond the news reports that paint Baltimore as a dent of iniquity, and instead see the intrinsic value in our historic city.
Cross told BMORENews, “Thank you to Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis for spending the day in Old Goucher and talking about what we can do to make Baltimore better.” He added, “I loved being able to show them Lalibela Baltimore.”
Cross is the Founder and Managing Member at Progressive Urbanism LLC, and he is also president of the Old Goucher Community Association.
