WHY THE BEYA METAQUAKE SYMPOSIUM?
Discovery and education represent two important outcomes of the BEYA Metaquake Symposium. The BEYA Metaquake Symposium will provide dedicated space for novices and veterans alike to learn from seasoned experts and foster connections within the worlds of technology, business, education, and government.
The BEYA Metaquake Symposium will provide a deeper understanding of the technologies that are the foundation of the metaverse which include cryptocurrency, blockchain, NFTs, gaming, VR/AR, Web3, education, and beyond. We believe that sharing knowledge is the most sustainable way to ensure that every person will participate in metaverse opportunities and experiences.
MAKING ROOM FOR THE FUTURE
The BEYA Metaquake Symposium, scheduled the week before the 37th Annual BEYA STEM Conference creates a forum to explore the technologies that are being harnessed by pioneers to create the metaverses. Early adapters are blazing the way stitching together some of the foundational technologies to create products and experiences that are propelling the creation of metaverses much like our own STEM City and the BEYA STEM DTX platforms, which offer yearlong programming.
This event will explore the ecosystem by bringing together educators, researchers, business professionals, artists, gamers, and even novelists to explore and learn more about the metaverse. We want to start the conversation that answers the question most people ask when they hear about the metaverse: what is the metaverse and what does that mean for me?
PREPARING THE NEXT GENERATION
We’re especially proud to annex the BEYA Pre-College program to anchor this event where the youth will learn about the metaverse and the tools used to create metaverses. We will, in addition to the traditional program, engage the students in a scholastic metaverse building competition which will culminate into a metaverse hackathon.
HARNESSING THE PAST TO FUEL THE FUTURE
Additionally, we will re-engage with past award recipients to induct the sixth class since 2010, into the Alumni Hall of Fame as beacons and resources for the next generation to benchmark their pursuit of excellence – on their personal journey to becoming everything they can be.

This event is for anyone who is curious about the metaverse and want to engage in discussions designed to expand your knowledge, to identify your points of entry in this emerging technology, and to understand how your future may evolve.
It’s for educators and students. Organizations that are exploring or engaging teams to develop and implement metaverse strategies. It’s for individuals who want to know how metaverse strategies can disrupt a carefully planned career trajectory. It’s for anyone who grapples with the jargon of the metaverse and wish to gain a base knowledge that they can build on.

Understanding how the metaverse can enable wealth, wellness, insights, information, and alternate reality experiences is a critical path to travel sooner rather than later to take full advantage of this emerging phenomenon. “First market movers” are generally early adopters of innovation that observe the benefits of learning new technology with the intent to leverage their knowledge for many positive purposes.Various speakers will discuss the metaverse in a Leading Voice-type setting. The metaverse, upon initial thought, may appear to be confined to virtual reality and augmented reality gaming. However, the adoption of the metaverse as a pervasive technology means industries and markets will rely on the metaverse to accelerate their core market execution strategies. The day begins with a discussion of how decentralization and Web3 will disrupt society overall. Then we drill down to how it will impact organizations and individuals.

Understanding how to formulate and plan a metaverse strategy is critical to unlocking the full potential of the metaverse.
Strategic planning of metaverse offerings requires a good understanding of the core components of the metaverse, followed by knowledge of how the metaverse will influence and impact markets, industries, and humanity.
Building on the previous symposium themes is necessary to formulate the correct metaverse journey for professional and organizational growth and prosperity. A key outcome of these sessions will answer the question, “Where do I begin my metaverse journey?”

Objectives
The workshop will provide students with the fundamental concepts that allow helicopters to take flight. Students will then break up into teams of four to apply their lessons in flight to create working prototypes.

Roundtable/Mentoring Session (CCG)

College should be a time for exploration, learning, and self-discovery. Many college students will be affected by a number of issues during their college experience. These roundtable sessions are designed to help students avoid the negative effects of these issues.

American Society of Naval Engineers: How To Build a Ship!
Objectives
Students will receive information and instructions on how to architect and build ships.
Outcomes
Participants will design, test, evaluate, and redesign their own naval ships for a search and rescue mission.

The Skilled Technical Workforce: America’s Blue Collar STEM Workforce (University of DC)
Objectives
This workforce is vital to the well-being of our society and to the economic competitiveness of our nation. Coast to coast, businesses large and small need adaptable, STEM-capable workers at every level of education and from all demographic backgrounds. While some careers in STEM require a four-year or graduate degree, many are available to applicants without a traditional four-year college degree. Blue-collar STEM careers are those requiring technical skills, problem-solving, and specialized training that is more than a high school diploma but less than a traditional four-year degree. These types of jobs cut across industries, such as IT, computer science, engineering, energy, and many more. This panel discussion will share insights, opportunities, and barriers in regard to the future of America’s blue-collar STEM workforce.
