Purpose

Our mission is simple but powerful: to identify shared priorities and unite our efforts toward building a stronger, more sustainable future for West Baltimore.

Small businesses are the economic backbone of our community—creating jobs, employing local residents, and driving meaningful change. The stronger our businesses become, the greater impact we can make together.

Special Guests

  • Brandon Wylie, who made state history as the youngest licensed mortician in Maryland and is part of the storied Wylie Funeral Home family, will be in attendance. The Wylie Family has long supported community initiatives, including those in Harlem Park.

  • Diane Bell-McKoy, longtime civic leader, will help facilitate the discussion among local business owners. She previously led both Associated Black Charities and the $100 million federally funded Empowerment Zone in the 1990s.

  • Neal Carter, a special invited guest, is a Sandtown native and respected business owner who has operated at Penn-North for roughly 40 years. He is a community staple who has employed hundreds—if not thousands—of local residents and has helped many secure stable housing.

Who Should Attend

Business owners, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders who live, work, or operate in or near zip code 21217.

This collaborative session will focus on strengthening our businesses, sharing resources, and strategizing for a better tomorrow for our community.
