(BALTIMORE – August 18, 2025) – When the pandemic hit, BMORENews.com had to adapt. In-person interviews became nearly impossible, so in December 2020 we launched BlackUSA.News. Thanks to Peggy Morris of Sisters4Sisters Network, Inc. for introducing me to StreamYard, and thanks to Michael Haynie and Maryland Hospitality Training for becoming our first major sponsor. That support gave us the lift we needed to keep reporting the news safely.

From there, the vision grew. We picked up show hosts from across the country, and Dr. Tyrone Taborn helped us go even further by placing our daily show in the Metaverse on STEMCITYUSA.com.

Community Power

People have powered the journey. Business leaders like Billy Murphy, Robert Fulton Dashiell, Byron Deese, and Tony Randall have sponsored our work, rolled up their sleeves, and joined us on-air. Their investment has been more than financial—it’s been personal.

A Viral Question: Who Are We?

This week, we connected with a guest who brought history, insight, and passion: Mike Lane of Native Black Ancestry. Born in Sacramento and now in Oklahoma, Mike has infused our shows with knowledge and emotional intelligence that resonated deeply.

The question that drove record engagement was simple but profound: Who are we?

  • Are African Americans Hebrew?

  • Moorish?

  • Indigenous?

  • All three—or something else?

The chat flew like a tennis match. Supporters, skeptics, and seekers chimed in with comments too fast to follow. It was a host’s dream—real-time dialogue that mattered.

Respect Above All

For me, the biggest lesson is respect. No matter your race, religion, values, or background—respect is non-negotiable. Blanket statements and name-calling add nothing. If we cannot discuss identity and history without tearing each other down, then we all lose.

This series also revealed painful truths: the systemic erasure, reclassification, and theft of land and wealth from people who look like me. The economic debt owed to Black Americans is incalculable—and the psychological toll just as heavy. Yet even with all of that, I still believe every human being deserves respect, and I demand it in return.

The Bigger Picture

For 23 years under the BMORENews.com banner, we’ve brought independent journalism to the world—from Baltimore to Ethiopia, Tanzania, Jordan, Jamaica, and Canada. We’ve covered the White House more than 70 times since 2010. Through the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards, we’ve honored 3,000 entrepreneurs and supporters in nine U.S. cities.

Our five-point agenda has never changed:

  • Black business

  • Public education in Baltimore and D.C.

  • Mass incarceration and reentry

  • Affordable housing

  • Universal access to health care

Moving Forward

This latest series on Native Black Ancestry is not a trend—it’s part of an ongoing 15-year research journey. The conversation is only beginning, and thanks to supporters near and far, BlackUSA.News and BMORENews.com remain committed to asking the tough questions, uncovering hidden truths, and amplifying independent Black voices.

We started streaming to survive the pandemic. Five years later, we’re not just surviving—we’re thriving, helping to spark national dialogue and reshaping what Black media can do.

And this is only the beginning. Do keep the discussion going! Want to join the conversation?
