Arizona’s Junior Senator to Join Rev. Sharpton for One-on-One Conversation on Civil Rights, Immigration, and the Fight for America’s Most Vulnerable Communities
(NEW YORK, NY – April 6, 2026) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), will sit down for a fireside chat with U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) on Thursday, April 9th at the 2026 NAN Annual Convention. The conversation will take place from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM in the Metropolitan East Ballroom at the Sheraton New York Times Square.
Senator Gallego is one of the most compelling voices in the United States Senate, bringing to the chamber a personal story of resilience, service, and an unwavering commitment to justice. A Marine Corps combat veteran and the son of immigrants, Senator Gallego has been a fierce advocate for lowering costs for families, immigration reform, and the protection of civil rights at a moment when each is under sustained attack. He has also been a leading voice in the U.S. Senate calling for the full release of the Epstein files, standing firmly on the side of transparency and public accountability.
His election to the U.S. Senate from Arizona in 2024 was a landmark victory, a powerful demonstration that the coalition of Black, Latino, and working-class voters that NAN has long championed remains a formidable political force. Senator Gallego’s presence at NAN’s convention reflects the deep and growing alliance between the civil rights movement and the communities fighting hardest for equity and inclusion in America.
The fireside chat is part of a landmark slate of programming at NAN’s historic 35th Annual Convention, which has drawn governors, former cabinet members, members of Congress, and the nation’s most influential civil rights voices to New York City for four days of action, organizing, and accountability.
