MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski Scarborough will host the unveiling ceremony
(WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 12, 2022) – The U.S. House of Representatives is set to unveil the official portrait of the late Congressman Elijah Cummings on September 14, 2022. Painted by Baltimore-based artist Jerrell Gibbs, the portrait will hang in its final resting spot in the Rayburn House Office Building Government Oversight and Reform Committee hearing room named after the late Congressman Cummings.
The commissioning of an official portrait is a customary honor bestowed upon members of congress who chair congressional committees. Congressman Cummings chaired the Government Oversight and Reform Committee from January 2017 until his death on October 17, 2019.
