The fun kicked off Friday, November 4 at the Gene Siskel Film Center and continues through November 20 in person, with a virtual edition of the festival from Nov. 21-28.
The party gets startedย Opening Nightย withย “A Black Harvest Feast”ย and heats up all weekend, with film premieres, tributes, awards presentations, and filmmaker Q&As galore, including an audience Q&A with rising starย Elegance Bratton, director of the autobiographical narrative feature debut,ย THE INSPECTION, which premiered to acclaim at both the Toronto International Film Festival and the Chicago International Film Festival.
Other guest appearances includeย Rita Coburn Whack, director ofย MARIAN ANDERSON: THE WHOLE WORLD IN HER HANDS;ย Derek Grace, director ofย WHATโS YOUR STORY? THE COMMUNITY FILM WORKSHOPโS 50 YEAR JOURNEY.
And here’s the icing on the cake (the butter on the popcorn?) โฆ. concessions are back!!ย After 30 long months on hiatus, the Film Center is bringing back concessions just in time for the opening of our Black Harvest Film Festival.ย Enjoy popcorn, candy, coffee, water, beer, or wineย with your movieย starting Friday, Nov. 4!
