Who is Katrina?

Katrina Lyles: Visionary Business Development Executive & Entrepreneur
Owner, KAT Consulting Pro, LLC

With over 25 years of experience as a Business Development Executive, Ms. Katrina Lyles has played a pivotal role in driving the growth and expansion of both emerging ventures and established corporations. Her strategic insights have been instrumental in transforming businesses from startup stages into thriving, sustainable enterprises.

Katrina is a seasoned project manager, master facilitator, strategist, and visionary leader. Notably, she helped generate $6.5 million in project revenue within just six months for a small minority-owned firm. Her expertise has been especially evident in high-pressure environments, such as her previous role as Real Estate Portfolio Manager for one of the nation’s largest engineering firms. In that position, she successfully managed complex projects globally—many of which involved unique challenges requiring swift, decisive action to deliver results on time and within budget.

A proud native of Montgomery County, MD, Katrina began her journey uniquely but interestingly after 4 years of JROTC in High school with her sights set on joining the Marine Corps like her older brother.  Lt. Col. Whiteside intervened and strongly encouraged her to participate in a local beauty pageant. After much debate, she decided to do so, and while she didn’t place, she was left with the confidence to face what was to come.  In 2003, she was selected for the historic Ebony Fashion Fair tour by Mrs. Eunice Johnson, wife of publishing legend John H. Johnson. Katrina was featured in multiple Jet and Ebony magazine issues during the tour. During this transformative experience, she discovered her exceptional people skills and entrepreneurial spirit.

Following her modeling career, Katrina transitioned into the corporate world, excelling in the A/E/C (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. Eventually, she channeled her passion and experience into founding her own company—KAT Consulting Pro, LLC—which specializes in providing Business Development Solutions to small and mid-sized minority-owned businesses.

“I love the idea of helping firms be successful because I know how much one contract can change the trajectory of a small business and their capacity to grow,” says Katrina.

Through KAT Consulting Pro, she crafts strategic marketing plans, builds strong pipelines, forges strategic partnerships, and, most importantly, helps clients secure lucrative contracts.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Katrina is also a devoted mother. Her daughter, a graduate of Norfolk State University, worked alongside her as an assistant at the engineering firm for over three years. This experience allowed Katrina to mentor and develop herself professionally.

She said, “I’m so proud that my daughter has followed in my footsteps. I hope I am blazing a path for her to become a trailblazer—and eventually, my successor.”
