Who is Diana?

Diana Leon Brown was appointed Chief of Staff Government & External Affairs of the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA/ BWI) by the Wes Moore administration on September 20, 2023. As Chief of Staff, Government & External Affairs, Diana is a direct report to and an extension of the MAA/ BWI Executive Director/CEO and is responsible for guiding all external affairs related to MAA. This includes providing shared executive oversight for the following functions:

  • State and federal affairs, including legislative and business matters
  • Corporate and civic affairs
  • Marketing and public relations activities
  • Air service development coordination
  • External communications
Ms. Brown is an experienced executive with over twenty-five years of experience in strategic partnerships, advocacy, external relations, and program management, with a proven ability to create and maintain strong relationships with government and private-sector organizations. She is highly networked and well-respected in the federal and state governments. Her career includes service as National Marketing Manager for American WholeHealth, Managing Partner for Sagegroup Consulting, Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Prince George’s County Executive, Senior Administrative Officer with Broward County Board of County Commissioners, Executive Director for the Artem Leadership Institute, the Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington, The Haitian Diaspora Federation, and The Black Student Fund.
In addition, Ms. Brown was appointed by the Obama administration to serve as White House liaison to lead the international Haitian earthquake recovery efforts from 2010 through 2012. The US Department of State and the Organization of American States awarded her for her leadership.

Ms. Brown earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Harvard University, an MS in Statistics, and an MBA in International Business & Finance from George Washington University School of Business. Outside of work, but related to her experience, she serves on the board of the Congressional Award Foundation, Vital Voices, and the Greater Washington Board of Trade. Diana has also received numerous excellent recognitions, including those from the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and the Maryland Legislative Caucus.
