(BALTIMORE – April 6, 2026) – When you talk about Baltimore fashion, one name keeps coming up — Jody Davis.
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m., the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards returns to downtown Baltimore to celebrate a woman who has been making women look and feel their absolute best for 15 years in business. Black Wall Street JODY DAVIS DESIGNS will be held at 110 W. Saratoga Street, and it promises to be an afternoon unlike any other.

Let’s be clear: Jody Davis has been designing women’s apparel for more than 25 years. But it was in September 2009 that she launched Jody Davis Designs as a formal brand — born out of a chance meeting with a California-based clothing manufacturer who was so impressed with her work that he flew her to his factory to refine her patterns and produce her first professional collection. By February 2010, she had opened her Baltimore boutique — and the rest is history.
Fifteen years later, she’s still here. In a city where small businesses come and go, that alone is a miracle.
A Brand Built for Women Who Lead
The Baltimore Sun has recognized her as “Best of Baltimore” in fashion design. And just last year, she collaborated with the Baltimore Orioles to reimagine their iconic Birdland Hawaiian Shirt pattern into a women’s collection and gender-neutral pieces — raising more than $1,000 for the Baltimore Design School.
Jody travels to Italy, New York — wherever the craft demands — because for her, fashion isn’t a job. It’s a calling.
Built on Resilience
Her journey was anything but easy.
She was initially rejected from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York because her sketching skills needed work. Instead of quitting, she took draping and art classes in both Baltimore and New York. A year later, she returned, faced the same counselor, and got accepted.
That resilience defines her.
As she says:
“Start right where you are, because if you wait until you have everything in line, you will never start.”
Relationships That Stand the Test of Time
Those who understand the Black Wall Street Awards know that relationships are at the center of everything we do.
Jody Davis and Kevin Scott of Benedetto Haberdashery have been partners, collaborators, and mutual supporters for decades. Just last month, we honored Kevin for 25 years in business. Now, we honor Jody for 15.
Friendship. Loyalty. Trust.
These are things not sold in stores.
Kevin said it best:
“She definitely puts in the time to make a superior product. I am so proud of her tenacity and her vision. I’ve watched her take a garment and make it into something amazing. I can’t put it into words — the love she has for her craft.”
A Celebration of Community
On May 23rd, Jody will honor her closest supporters and clients in an intimate ceremony that reflects the love and community she has built over the past 15 years.
A proud Baltimore native, she is a graduate of Western High School and a two-time graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, earning Associate degrees in Fashion Design (1991) and Accessories Design (1992).
Baltimore’s Queen of Fashion
Let’s give it up.
