(BALTIMORE – August 1, 2023) – Earlier this year as our now former CEO Fagan Harris prepared to join Gov. Wes Moore’s (and Baltimore Corps co-founder) administration as chief of staff, we also announced that Sarah Flammang would serve as Interim President and CEO as our Board of Directors launched a national search. Needless to say, our search has concluded. We also have some bittersweet news to share.
After 8 impactful years with our organization, Sarah Flammang’s time with us has come to a close. Last week, Sarah joined the Moore administration’s new Department of Service and Civic Innovation as Deputy Secretary. Our staff and Board of Directors are deeply grateful for Sarah’s leadership and for the opportunity to continue our work together in her new role. The Department’s mission, building leadership through service, is a top administration priority well-aligned with our efforts.
As we reflect on the successes of the last decade and the opportunities that lie ahead, there is no question that Caryn is the right person at the right time to take this organization to the next level. We are fortunate and excited to bring her experience and vision to bear as we continue to shape and expand the Baltimore Corps model and its implementation in cities across the U.S. through City Corps.
