Michael Steele Says “No” to Governor’s Race: “FAMILY FIRST!”

(BALTIMORE – January 4, 2022) – Maryland’s 2022 gubernatorial election will not see one face running: former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele.

In a message to BmoreNews yesterday, he wrote, “Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say I will not be entering the race for Governor.”

He added, “The family and I had a final heart-to-heart over the holidays and they were not on board with a run right now. Tough race to pass on, but family first.”

This is heart-breaking to his supporters.

At present, Kelly Schulz has strong support from Gov. Larry Hogan. This leaves the other Republican challengers at a further disadvantage in an already 2-to-1 Democratic state. With high approval ratings as governor, the next governor will probably have to emulate some of Hogan’s best traits in order to convince voters.

Steele will appear on “TOWN HALL” with Doni Glover on our sister station this evening to discuss at 7 pm EST: Facebook.com/BlackUSANews
