Ten years ago, BmoreNews.com and Sisters4Sisters Network, Inc. collaborated to produce our very first business awards in Washington, D.C. That evolved into what is now the Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards where we celebrate Black entrepreneurs and professionals, as well as the people who support them regardless of race.
To date, we’ve recognized nearly 1,800 individuals in several US cities, including New York, Baltimore, Prince George’s County, Richmond, Atlanta, New Orleans, Birmingham, Las Vegas, and Tulsa.
Our goal now is to establish the National Black Wall Street Foundation so that we can continue to help preserve national Black Wall Street history and inspire entrepreneurship, beginning in the Black community. History shows us that the stronger our Black businesses are, the more they are able to hire other Black people.
