(BALTIMORE – October 12, 2020) – To my students, entrepreneurs, and people on the rise: Does COVID-19 have you off your game? Find yourself struggling to embrace your purpose? Are you losing ground on projects that were almost near completion?

Well, welcome to the club! You are not alone. You’re not the only one struggling to find their footing amidst the worst pandemic since the 1918 influenza pandemic (Spanish flu).

Actually, I found myself feeling a tad disoriented. Like, what do I do now?

Answer: Recognize, Embrace & Pivot!

The solution I found was very simple: first, recognize how the pandemic has changed the game; second, embrace the changes; and third, identify the next targets and execute as we pivot.

Rather than sulk, rather than feel sorry for ourselves and the world around us – let’s instead change our perspective. After all, the last to embrace change are typically the ones to falter.

All businesses are undergoing transformational changes. And unfortunately, some are not weathering this storm.

So, the sooner we get back to that drawing board and do our SWOT analysis – remember: strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats – the quicker we can identify what stays in the arsenal and what needs to go.

I must add that 21st century technology has helped make the difference for a lot of business owners. Whether it is upgrading, bringing in new gadgets, finally taking that webinar, or something as basic as attending a Zoom meeting – this new technology is everywhere.

An ongoing solution for many of our challenges, I’ve found, is so simple it goes over some of our heads: ASK FOR HELP! There is help all around, but some of us are too stubborn and too stuck in our ways that we miss the boat.

Further, you never know where your help might come from. In short, you’ll never know the answers if you never seek them. So, get out of your comfort zone. Get out of your feelings. Let go of your prejudices and pre-conceived notions. Overcome your years of stinking thinking and try something different.

There are countless experts all around us, including little kids who tend to know this technology better than their grandparents.

I hope this helps somebody out there struggling. Our lives have changed, and the new normalcy is upon us. So, what do we do? Do we fall down and call it quits? Or, do we get up and get back to the purpose God gave us a long time ago. And that includes looking at that drawing board once again, sharpening our weapons, and continuing the good fight that warms our eternal soul with a renewing of the mind that’s boldly, faithfully and vehemently focused on absolute success?

I’m with the latter, and hope that you are, too! And remember this, as long as you’re thinking, you’re still in the game!
