(BALTIMORE – September 7, 2020) – Louis Thomas, founder of PowerFest — an annual, free festival of “Love, Peace and Unity” — is on a mission to decrease the crime and murders in Baltimore through the message of LOVE for your neighbors and your city. The festival is set for Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Swann Park in downtown Baltimore. But you can get a preview of what PowerFest Baltimore will be like at the PowerFest Media Rollout Party on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The party will be held in the parking lot of Spaces Stadium Square, 145 W. Ostend Street, 21230. All covid-19 protocols will be in place. We’ll have a full itinerary starting at 3 p.m. sharp! Don’t miss our Welcome Extravaganza! PowerFest is a 501c3 which Thomas launched in 2007 in Orlando, Florida. But after moving back to his hometown of Baltimore, and watching the city’s homicide rate increase to 348 in 2019, he knew he had to be a part of bringing unity to the community.

“Baltimore is a great city! But I believe the murders are a result of hopelessness — people who are hurting inside, whether from mental issues, poverty, or just a need to feel loved. The city needs to be healed,” exclaims Thomas. “I believe we can help bring that healing through our mission to create ‘Love, Peace & Unity’ between churches and spiritual organizations, city and community leaders, police and first responders, corporations and small businesses, and most of all, the citizens of Baltimore; regardless of race, class or gender, through the power of love and life resources.”

PowerFest Baltimore 2021 will offer an array of free resources to help the community, including: social services, jobs, affordable housing, voters registration, health screenings, youth programs, counselors, a prayer tent and even “love ambassadors,” who will go around the festival giving out free hugs (or fist-bumps if we’re still in the pandemic). There will also be lots of fun activities, including: a car show, a kids zone, live inspirational music, talent show, women’s empowerment zone, food trucks, retail vendors and action sports like a stunt show and the “Shoot Buckets, Not Bullets” 3 Point contest.

At this month’s PowerFest Media Rollout Party, all media will get to enjoy some of the food, activities, entertainment and resources planned for next year, as well as get a 2021 calendar of events leading up to the big day. Please RSVP by Monday, September 14 to media relations director, Kalin Thomas at PowerEventsMedia1@gmail.com, or call 404- 863-8182.
