(BALTIMORE – May 7, 2020) – As reported by the Baltimore Business Journal yesterday, Hunt Valley-based Sinclair Broadcasting must pay the Federal Communications Commission an unprecedented $48 million in fines. They are charged with providing misinformation to the feds regarding a proposed $3.9 billion takeover of Tribune Media. This deal would have placed Sinclair on even stronger footing to be the dominant media force.

Locally, Sinclair Broadcasting has been a strong supporter of Thiru Vignarajah.

What’s interesting here for me is something stated by El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz years ago. He said that the media is the most powerful entity on earth and has the ability to make the innocent look guilty and the guilty look innocent.

In the middle of Baltimore’s current mayoral race, Sinclair Broadcasting’s Fox 45 Baltimore Station has all but given Vignarajah his own media platform.

Mind you, this is the same “law and order” candidate who got pulled over during what appears to be an act of solicitation. After all, what was Vignarajah doing driving on Greenmount Avenue after midnight with a strange person in his car – with his headlights off – and on a suspended license – only to ask the officer to cut-off his camera?

Law and order, right?

Yeah, right!

This should be a clear-cut example of media and the role it plays in our elections. Never mind what the people want. Just tell them whatever you’d like! Never mind the truth! It simply doesn’t matter.
