Expanding Opportunities
Congratulations to Dr. Janet Spry and the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences for receiving a $250,000 two year grant from the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA).
The grant will create opportunities that lead to independent living and long-term job attainment. Coppin State University was the only state institution to receive this grant.
Cyber Warrior Diversity Program
Last month, Gov. Hogan signed Senate Bill-615 to establish the Cyber Security Warrior Program. A press conference announcing the details surrounding the program will be held at Coppin State University,June 19, at 2:00 p.m. The cybersecurity program will provide training to students in computer networking and cybersecurity at Coppin State University, Baltimore City Community College, Bowie State University, Morgan State University, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Congratulations, Class of 2018!
Five area high schools will hold graduation ceremonies on the Coppin State campus, this year. Graduates and their families from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Carver Vocational- Technical High School, Frederick Douglass High School, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and Edmondson –Westside High School will conduct commencement exercises in the Physical Education Complex in the coming weeks.
Track and Field Champs!
Congratulations to CSU sophomores Aaron Lewis and Joseph Amoah for qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held in Eugene, Oregon, from June 6-9. Aaron qualified in the 110 meter hurdles and Joseph in the 200 meter dash.
College Pride Night – “The Eagles Back the Birds!”
Coppin State University is one of nine universities in the Baltimore-Washington area to sponsor a University Pride Night at Camden Yards, this year. Coppin’s Pride Night will take place on Wednesday, August 29. Be sure and get your tickets to this special event by going to TICKETS

Outdoor Summer Concert Series – Open to All
The month of June kicks off the 6th Annual Alumni Concert Series. Friends and family are invited to spend summer nights, listening to jazz, rhythm and blues, cover bands, and neo-soul artists. The series starts on Thursday, June 28 and runs through September. Bring your lawn chairs & blankets and enjoy the crafts and food vendors. This free concert series takes place in the library quad from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
