“Mike” Cruise to be Recognized at 15th Anniversary of Bmorenews, Dec. 6th

Armentha “Mike” Cruise: A Biographical Sketch

Armentha “Mike” Cruise, the former CEO of The Aspen Group, a human resource manager by profession, passionate business community advocate, altruist and now a published author, released her latest project, Awakened Through the Passage: Using History to Influence Wealth Creation for Present and Future Generations.

Mike Cruise; as she is referred to in the business community is a human resources manager by profession but her reputation as an entrepreneurial maverick is how she is most commonly recognized. Her first start-up, Aspen Temporary Services founded in 1988 morphed into an international human capital management leader, with offices in 7 states and Bangalore India, with more than 900 active global contractors at any given time. Branded later as The Aspen Group, Mike Cruise grew the firm with revenues exceeding $50 million. Mike went on to create other successful award-winning businesses who were also branded as best in class within their industries. She crafted unique silos and is even credited with one of the first successful mentor protégé programs for diverse and women owned firms; including three small firms which she helped grow into multi-million dollar organizations. Additionally, she served as a prime contractor to more than fifty companies. Although she continues to champion the cause for minority business inclusion, she dedicates her time to her newest venture in entertainment; having produced a miniseries as well as a short film, both having aired on network television and various media outlets.

Dr. Cruise is a graduate of Morgan State University with a degree in Psychology. She holds a degree in Human Resources Management received from American University and two honorary doctorates from Sojourner Douglas College as well as Morgan State University.

Mike Cruise is active in the business community and has served on several boards including Harvard University’s, John F. Kennedy School of Government, and Women’s Leadership Board. Her other board memberships include the President’s Roundtable, The Baltimore Development Corporation and the DC Chamber of Commerce.  She was also a board member of the Maryland/DC Minority Supplier Development Council, member of Morgan State University’s Corporate Alliance Board and served on the president’s advisory board of the Greater Baltimore Committee.

Throughout her business career, Mike Cruise has received numerous awards and has given countless speeches to a list of notable organizations. Recognized as an expert in her field, she has been quoted by numerous media outlets including the Washington Post, The Washington Business Journal, Fortune Magazine, Black Enterprise and Essence Magazines. A tribute of which she is most proud is her profile in Women of Achievement in Maryland’s History, a textbook for elementary and middle school aged children.

She continues to lend her voice and time to community activism and maintains her mantra of wealth creation, speaking passionately and consistently of legacy.
