(BALTIMORE – September 15, 2017) – Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford met with members of the Black Press today at his downtown Baltimore office. A litany of issues were discussed, including HBCU funding, crime in Baltimore, Project CORE (designed to remove urban blight) and the state of public education in both Baltimore and Prince George’s County (the two largest African American jurisdictions in the state).
Attendees included Bmorenews publisher Doni Glover, Afro Publisher Jake Oliver, Afro editor/WEAA radio host Sean Yoes, WOLB host Larry Young and WOLB host Butch McAdams.
According to Larry Young, today’s meeting between the Governor and the Black Press Corps was unprecedented for any Maryland Governor. “From Marvin Mandel right up to him, this was a first for any Maryland governor.” He added, “I thought that today’s meeting was very interesting, very candid. We had our concerns and we got our responses.”
