(BROOKLYN – November 25, 2016) – In Support of the Charmil Y. Davis Colon Cancer Foundation, and its partners (REAL Radio, Baltimore’s Simple Wellness Day Spa) will be presenting a special series of Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 6:30-9:30 pm at the 40/40 Club at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. On that night, the Brooklyn Nets will be taking on the Denver Nuggets.

Charmil, an independent black journalist who has interviewed Pres. Barack Obama and Pres.-elect Donald Trump, has been a longtime supporter of Bmorenews and is also a former Black Wall Street honoree.

The awards, founded in 2011 in Washington, D.C., were designed by Bmorenews to celebrate black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race.

The Joe Manns Black Wall Street Awards are intended to pay homage to the 600 black businesses that were bombed and burned to the ground on May 31, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa had the largest black business district in the nation.

To date, Bmorenews and its partners have honored hundreds in New York, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Atlanta, and New Orleans.

According to Doni Glover, Publisher of Bmorenews and founder of the awards, “Once again, we are pushing the message about the need to support black businesses.” He added, “It is truly our pleasure to support Charmil because she has on several occasions been supportive of our efforts at Bmorenews. As a matter of fact, we honored her at our first event in New York which was at the United Nations several years ago. So, to hear about her efforts to help colon cancer patients, it was a no-brainer as to what we were willing to do. No problem!”

He also said, “You have to respect a Charmil Y. Davis. Like my dad would say, ‘You gotta be able to ask the tough questions.’ Even more, you have to be in the room to ask those questions. Charmil gets in the door and asks the questions. Period. Not many can say that. I respect her tenaciousness. She is a journalist who is about her business wholeheartedly.”
