(BALTIMORE – September 29, 2016) – Tonight’s Black Wall Street BWI-THURGOOD MARSHALL, set for 6 to 8 pm on the Observation Deck at the airport, will feature a number of honorees who will receive the coveted Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award. Since 2011, Bmorenews has recognized hundreds of black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them.
Tonight’s honorees include Cedrick Johnson, PE.
Who is Cedrick?
With 21-years of extensive experience in the planning, design, and construction of airport projects that encompass airfield, landside, terminal, and support facilities, Mr. Johnson is a highly sought after engineer who provides his clients with high quality and innovative solutions. His experience includes both large commercial service and regional airports throughout the East Coast such as BWI Marshall, Washington Dulles International, John F. Kennedy International, Philadelphia International Airport, Miami International Airports, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The wide ranging scope of projects requires him to work successfully with Airport Sponsors, Operations, Airlines, Tenants, the FAA, and Air Traffic Control Tower personnel.
Complementing his design skills is his ability to balance strategic planning with operational reality. His solutions minimize the impact of complex construction programs on an active airport operating environment while allowing for efficient and cost effective execution of construction that is on time and within budget. He has earned a reputation for dynamic leadership, strong problem solving skills, and responsiveness to stakeholders.
In 2006, Mr. Johnson co-founded Airport Design Consultants, Inc. (ADCI) to provide the Air Transportation Industry with the highest quality of individualized design and construction management services. In 10-years, ADCI has grown to a 45-person firm which is a widely requested team partner. Under Mr. Johnson’s leadership, ADCI offers the experience, versatility, technical expertise, and one-on-one attention and responsiveness in Airport facilities’ design that senior executive management clients are seeking.
Through his work with ADCI, Mr. Johnson has received numerous MdQI Award of Excellence awards including MBE/WBE Design (2016), Excellence for Projects under $5 million (2016), MBE Engineering (2014), Subcontractor Engineering (2012). ADCI, under Mr. Johnson’s guidance received the 2014 Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA’s) Partnership Award for work performed at BWI Marshall Airport. Mr. Johnson was awarded the 2014 Presidential Citation from the University of Delaware for Outstanding Alumni Achievement. As a young engineer, he was a finalist for the Young Black Engineer of the Year award.
Mr. Johnson is a frequent speaker at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annual Airports Conference. This national recognized conference provides airport officials with the latest information on airport programs and policies as well as practical experience. Mr. Johnson also serves on the board at Meals on Wheels, a local non-profit organization and the University of Delaware College of Engineering Advisory Board. Mr. Johnson is married to his wife Nicole Johnson and has two daughters, Camryn and Lauren Johnson.
