(BALTIMORE – April 8, 2016) – Keara Hayes, who owns a local accounting firm, is among the cadre of honorees for Black Wall Street HOWARD STREET set for Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Ultimate Concierge, 300 W. 23rd Street.
Who is Keara?
Keara Hayes is the one of the Managing Partners at Apex Payroll. She started this company in December 2013. Keara is diligent and committed to her profession, with more than seventeen years of experience in Accounting.
Keara has worked for many different CPA firms, of which some of them include Glass Jacobson, RSM McGladrey and Stout Causey & Horning. She was responsible for tax, audits and general accounting.
She also worked doing private accounting a Financial Analyst at Johns Hopkins Hospital for several years. Prior to starting her own payroll firm, Keara took a break from accounting and went back to college where she earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She worked in the Baltimore City School System for 5 years as a classroom teacher and an Educational Associate.
While working for the school system, she owned and operated a successful bakery called The Ooh La La Cupcakery. She really enjoyed being an entrepreneur and wanted to go back to her roots of accounting. Hence, she formed the company H&K Financial Services, LLC and from there she franchised to what is now known as Apex Payroll.
She is committed to lifelong learning and pursues this passion through her commitment as an Adjunct Professor at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University. She is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa. She gives back to her community by supporting local foster care centers. She makes generous donations each year to various charities.
Keara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Morgan State University.
