(BROOKLYN – March 9, 2016) – Odessa Hopkins, a longtime supporter of Bmorenews.com (along with her husband, Rick), is among our honorees at Black Wall Street BROOKYLN on March 16, 2016 (3 pm) at the Weeksville Heritage Center located at 158 Buffalo Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11213.
Affectionately known as Lady OH, Hopkins brings an impressive 20 years of onsite federal government contracting to her portfolio with Technology & Management Services (TMS) and, later, IBM. During her onsite contracting career, the project she managed quadrupled in both tasks and revenue.
Odessa has been an entrepreneur since the mid 1980s. In 2007, she launched Another Approach, a business and diversity consulting company that assists start-ups to large corporations: one of which exceeds $11B a year in annual revenue.
Most notably, Another Approach was the Diversity Consultant on a major healthcare project spanning four facilities, two states and four counties. Under Odessa’s leadership, the billion dollar corporation was successful in exceeding their minority participation goals in one of the most challenging regions of the country. In addition, she was contracted to help contractors with revenues from $25k to $10M assess and improve their contractor marketing strategies.
Odessa now focuses her time and attention on women in business. Last year, she launched a mission to help 1000 women receive more exposure, generate more leads and close more deals in 2016. Her Global Marketplace, BizWomenOnline.com, collaboratively markets and promotes the products, services, events and businesses of women. In addition, she hosts master minds, brainstorming and other events to facilitate the growth of women in all aspects of entrepreneurship.
Odessa is a full-time entrepreneur, contracting expert, speaker and a small, minority and woman owned business advocate based in New York City. Her Guide, “20 Mistakes Preventing Small Businesses from Landing BIG Contracts!” is due for release in 2016.
