(BALTIMORE – March 31, 2019) – We’ve had a super busy month as Lee Vaughan (Baltimore), Walter Edwards (Harlem), Regina Smith (Harlem), Stan Long (DC), Beverly Smith (DC), Bou Khan (NY, ATL) and I hosted five Black Wall Street events in three cities.
Every event brought a bouquet of encouragement and optimism as we witnessed African American entrepreneurs shining brightly for the world to see.
A special congratulations, also, goes to all of the honorees.
We have honored well over 1,300 individuals with the coveted Joe Manns Black Wall Street Award in New York, Baltimore, Washington, Atlanta and New Orleans.
In short, we celebrate black entrepreneurs and professionals as well as the people who support them regardless of race. We aim to encourage a healthy and viable black business climate across America where increasingly we, as a community, are supporting black businesses – just like in Tulsa, Durham, Richmond, Atlanta, Baltimore, Detroit and so many other places – back in the day. We do this in memory of the 600 black-owned businesses destroyed May 31-June 1, 1921 in Tulsa.
Tomorrow, we’ll be back in Baltimore at Terra Cafe Bmore for business networking at its finest. Honorees include Derick Boyd, DJ Mike “Nyce”, Frank Johnson, Adar Ayira, and Adrian Harpool.
Many, many thanks to our sponsors, without whom we could not do this work, including Eric Lee Bryant, Esq., Christina Flowers, Ericka Buck Alston, Ivan Bates, Thomas Hardnett, John Bugg State Farm Insurance, Michael Preston, Armentha “Mike” Cruise, Cain Contracting, State Sen. Antonio Hayes, Sanjay Thomas Allstate Insurance, the Greater Baltimore Urban League, and Associated Black Charities of Maryland.
